About me.
Hello, my name is Kaylene McGowen, and I am an artist from Colorado. I have a deep passion for creating character designs. Art provides me with the freedom to express storytelling and bring my characters to life, making them feel real and tangible in the world around us. I want my characters, even as cartoons, to evoke emotions, and spending time in nature greatly contributes to that inspiration, as I can observe the interactions between living things. Additionally, I draw motivation from fashion; I love watching fashion shows on YouTube for costume ideas, which help my characters feel more vibrant and lively.
**Bio:**
I grew up in Sunbury, Ohio, in a rural area where I was surrounded by nature, which encouraged me to spend time outside. My curiosity and love for learning turned every day into a new discovery, helping me become more attuned to biology and physics, particularly marine biology. I have always been fascinated by ocean life because it feels like exploring another world. In 2021, I moved to Denver, Colorado, to attend the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in fine art/Illustration. I make an effort to visit my family and friends in Ohio whenever I can.
